I joined your circus because you were lovely and lonely and you needed an act. You were a true ringmaster and I believed in you. I was your first performer and the most popular in the beginning. And when you bought the elephant. I still showed up and did my job. And then you found your sky dancers and tumblers. And they were new and shiny and you lost interest in me. you became cruel to me. you became cruel when you beat and whipped me into shape. And when the other animals couldn’t take it anymore and left you, you cried. I comforted you and performed for you still.

You whip me and I jump through burning hula-hoops for you.

But when the show is over you will leave the cage open

so I can perform

my final

act.
